Ready to take the lead? Join Watson as a Senior Planner and build our planning function from the ground up. You’ll create and manage construction programmes, support project teams, and set up a high-performing planning team. If you love solving problems, leading with purpose, and making sure everything runs like clockwork — we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the growth of the Planning Department.

  • Develop robust tender programmes and method statements where the business is tendering for development opportunities, or evaluation land opportunities.

  • Prepare Contract and Target programmes for each development

  • Monitor Target Programmes to mitigate delays.

  • Ensure full and accurate recording of delays to Main Contract Programmes, maintain and prepare evidence to support extension of time claims.

  • Monitor and record subcontractor performance against agreed subcontract programmes.

  • Work with Site Teams to create short term programmes.

  • Undertake regular site visits to review progress against programme and adjust programme as necessary.

  • Liaise with commercial and finance teams to forecast project cash flows.

  • Report to Senior Management on development progress.

  • Prepare and integrate design & procurement programmes into master development programme and work with technical and commercial teams to ensure delivery in accordance with construction activities.

  • Develop and maintain Design & Pre Construction Development Delivery Reports for discussion with the allocated delivery team.

 

Skills knowledge and aptitude

  • Strong communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally

  • Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present data to facilitate increased speed of delivery

  • Strong IT skills and an excellent knowledge and competency with Asta programming software

  • Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to work on own initiative, with the drive to take ownership of projects

  • Team player, and supportive of colleagues

  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings & extract information as necessary
