Main Objectives

Recognise and fulfil the legal duties and obligations of a Site Manager regarding building and life safety.

Deliver the project in line with technical, quality, programme and budget requirements in an effective, safe and professional manner

Maintain full compliance throughout the duration of the project applying company values, industry conduct and behaviours

Key Responsibilities

Comply with the responsibilities as laid down in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, with ultimate responsibility for all Health and Safety matters on site.s

Identify and manage risks and potential hazards associated with the project at all stages

Organise, coordinate and control the building work and subcontractors to allow sufficient time to deliver a technically compliant and safe building, including the surrounding environment for the occupants

Understand the requirements of building regulations and other relevant legislation to effectively plan, manage, monitor, record and supervise building work

Ensure all works are carried out in total compliance with the current design drawings, specifications, material schedules and all relevant standards

Understand contractual requirements  of the development and ensure compliance of contractors proposals, employers requirements, main contracts and third party agreements

Undertake quality inspections using WHDMS for the works you are responsible for managing, ensuring completed works are in complete accordance with the drawing, setting out information, material and product specifications and installation requirements

Apply cost control methods to ensure the project is completed inline with budgets

Demonstrate effective leadership skills, providing motivation, support and guidance to the site team, recognising and acknowledging excellent performance and managing sub standard performance when required

Recognise the limit of your own competence and of those under your control

Qualifications & Training - Essential

  • Level 6 or equivalent in a construction based qualification

  • CSCS – Site Manager level

  • SMSTS

  • First Aid at Work

  • Basic Scaffold Inspection

  • Fire Warden

  • Asbestos Awareness

Qualifications & Training - Desirable

  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator

  • IPAF MEWPS for Managers

  • PASMA Management of Mobile Access Towers

  • Mental Health First Aid

Experience

  • Previous site management experience

  • Competent in masonry build process

  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety obligations and building legislation

Working relationships

It is important to form strong working relationships with both internal and external people. The focus in this role is:

Internal: Directly employed site staff, Contracts Manager, Procurement & Commercial staff, HR, Design/Technical staff, Planners, Directors

External: Sub-Contractors, suppliers, LABC representatives, customers and members of the public
