Regeneration in action: 37 new affordable homes completed in Longsight

A new chapter for Longsight

We’re proud to announce the completion of 37 new energy-efficient homes on Levenshulme Road, Longsight – a regeneration partnership between Watson and Jigsaw Homes Group that’s helping to shape a more inclusive, sustainable Manchester.

The scheme transforms a previously underused brownfield site between 121–131 Levenshulme Road into a vibrant new community, supporting Manchester City Council’s goal of delivering 10,000 affordable homes by 2032.

Meeting the region’s housing needs

The scheme delivers a mix of six two-bedroom houses, 20 one-bedroom apartments and 11 two-bedroom apartments, all available for social rent.

With demand for affordable housing continuing to outstrip supply across Greater Manchester, the project provides secure, high-quality homes that meet the needs of local people and strengthen community resilience.

Designed for sustainability

Sustainability has been central to every stage of delivery.

Each home features solar panels and an air-source heat pump to reduce energy use and help residents cut their bills. EV charging points and landscaped green areas encourage low-carbon living and a strong sense of place, while the site’s 29 off-road parking spaces and accessible design promote safety and community connection.

Built on collaboration

Rob Watson, Director at Watson, said: “Levenshulme Road embodies the kind of regeneration that delivers genuine local benefit. Working closely with Jigsaw Homes and Manchester City Council has been key to making this project possible. By combining our expertise with shared commitment to quality and community outcomes, we’ve been able to deliver homes that not only meet growing demand, but also demonstrate how sustainable, affordable development can drive long-term social and economic value.”

Partnership has been fundamental to the success of the project – bringing together Watson’s regeneration expertise, Jigsaw’s community focus, and Manchester City Council’s strategic leadership to unlock a site that had remained underused for years.

Supporting a sustainable future for Manchester

The completion of Levenshulme Road marks another milestone in Watson’s expanding portfolio of regeneration-led developments across Greater Manchester – from Church Wharf in Bolton, which will deliver 415 homes and new public spaces, to Creams Mill in Little Lever, a canalside community designed around heritage restoration.

Together, these schemes demonstrate Watson’s commitment to creating developments that deliver lasting social value, attract long-term investment, and contribute to the economic and cultural renewal of the North West.
